LIFE IN THE UNESCO WORLD HERITAGE

Regensburg, with around 152,000 inhabitants, the fifth largest city in Bavaria, is one of the most rapidly developing places in Germany. Thanks to its historical and political importance, its role as a medieval trading center and its outstanding architectural and urban planning qualities, the "Old Town Regensburg with Stadtamhof" was named a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 2006.

The characteristic patrician towers, the narrow, winding streets and squares with a Mediterranean atmosphere give Regensburg its typical Italian flair. Regensburg is a city with a lifestyle, in which a lot moves, and which, like no other city, offers a harmonious coexistence of old and new.

Regensburg is strongly influenced by the manufacturing industry (automobile construction, mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, microelectronics). Unemployment is below the Bavarian national average (Feb. 2020 2.8% Regensburg / 3.2% Bavaria). With 760 socially insured employees per 1000 inhabitants, Regensburg has a high job density.

With the Regensburg motorway junction and the Regensburg main station, the city is a motorway and rail junction in Eastern Bavaria. Munich and Nuremberg airports can be reached within an hour.
